Mississauga Gurmat School has been operating since September 2007 and with the support of all parents, community partners and with Waheguru’s kirpa we continue to provide programming that focuses on core Sikh principles.
Structured classes consist of Paaht, Punjabi and Discussion/Gurmat Studies. Teachers incorporate interesting and interactive lesson plans, enhancing our kids' learning experience as much as possible. Fun Nights and field trips are also planned throughout the year to give everyone the opportunity to 'kick back' and relax. Previous Fun Nights have included: pillow fights, skits, movies, skating, Raptors games, along with pizza, fries, chips and more great food!
Our teachers and organizers are comprised of individuals passionate about Sikhi and the community, some with formal teaching experience, but many who simply want to help others. Together, with parents and Shromani Sikh Sangat Gurdwara’s support, Gurmat School runs every Sunday (in accordance with the regular school year) from 10:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
We are always looking for additional volunteer teachers who might take on a “teaching assistant” role or be willing to take lead on certain class projects. For additional information on volunteering, please email gurmatschool@gmail.com
Mississauga Gurmat School provides a positive and Sikhi-enriched environment, teaching some of the tools our younger brothers and sisters need to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
