 The terms Nishkam consists of two components - "Nish" and "Kam".
  1. The word "Nish" means "Without" or "free from".
  2.  The word "Kam" refers to "desire" or "wish for".
So "Nishkam" refers to an action for which one has no desire for reward of any sort.
